Tarralyn LaJuan Ramsey, born on July 8, 1979, is an American singer and songwriter. She is known for her gospel music. Tarralyn started her music journey in 2000 with her first album, Tarralyn Ramsey. This album became popular on the Billboard Gospel Albums chart. Later, in 2003, she won the TV show Born to Diva. After that, she released her second album, Tarralyn, which included the song "Up Against All Odds".

Tarralyn's Music Journey

Tarralyn Ramsey's music career began in 2000. Her first album, called Tarralyn Ramsey, was released on June 20, 2000. This album was a big success for her. It reached number 12 on the Gospel Albums chart in Billboard magazine. The album had popular gospel songs like "Tell It" and "Unconditional Love". Because of this album, Tarralyn was nominated for a Stellar Award as Best New Artist.

Winning Born to Diva

After a few years, Tarralyn decided to try something new. In 2003, she joined the VH1 reality TV show Born to Diva. She won the competition! Sharon Osbourne announced her as the winner live on TV at the VH1 Divas Duets concert. Tarralyn even performed at the concert with famous singers like Whitney Houston, Beyoncé, and Chaka Khan.

After winning, she signed a music deal with Casablanca/Universal Records. Her second album, Tarralyn, came out on June 8, 2004. This album reached number 59 on the Billboard R&B Albums chart. The main song from this album was "Up Against All Odds". She also released a second song, "Baby U Know", which featured the rapper Murphy Lee.

Winning Born to Diva made Tarralyn very popular. She was featured on Entertainment Tonight and in many magazines. These included Vibe, Ebony, Jet, People, and Seventeen. To promote her album, she opened for Mary J. Blige on her "No More Drama" Tour. She also joined the "Total You" Tour with Seventeen Magazine and Pantene. Tarralyn performed at "The BET College Tour" and at famous places like Carnegie Hall.

TV Shows and New Music

In 2009, Tarralyn was invited to be the first contestant on The Voice. She sang Faith Hill's song "Breathe". She joined Christina Aguilera's team. Tarralyn made it to the Battle Rounds, where she performed "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)" with Frenchie Davis.

After leaving The Voice, she released her third album, Beyond the Darkness, in 2009. This was a gospel album released on her own record label, Taraprincel Records. A magazine called Cross Rhythms reviewed the album and gave it a good rating.

In 2012, Tarralyn auditioned for The X Factor USA. All four judges, Simon Cowell, Demi Lovato, L.A. Reid, and Britney Spears, said "Yes" to her. However, she did not move on to the next stage of the competition.

Later, Tarralyn started her own music company called Nylarrat Ent. Group. On December 10, 2014, she released a holiday album called 'Tis the Season for Miracles. Her new song "Love" also came out that year. In 2016, she released another song called "Hope". Since then, she has released two more holiday albums: O Holy Night in 2017 and Winter Wonderland in 2020.

Her most recent song, "Jesus We Need You", was released in April 2021.
