Tarralyn LaJuan Ramsey (born July 8, 1979) is an American singer and songwriter. She is known for her amazing voice and for singing gospel music. Tarralyn started her music journey in 2000. She became well-known after winning a TV show called Born to Diva in 2003.

Her Early Life
Tarralyn LaJuan Ramsey was born on July 8, 1979. Her hometown is Melbourne, Florida. She grew up in the church because her parents were very involved there. Her father was a bishop and her mother was a school teacher. Tarralyn also has a younger sister.
Starting Her Music Career
Tarralyn Ramsey began her music career in the year 2000. Her first album was called Tarralyn Ramsey. It was released on June 20, 2000. This album was a big success for her. It reached number 12 on the Billboard Gospel Albums chart. The album featured popular gospel songs like "Tell It" and "Unconditional Love." Because of this album, Tarralyn was nominated for a Stellar Award as Best New Artist.
Winning Born to Diva
After a few years, Tarralyn Ramsey took a new step in her career. In 2003, she joined a reality TV show called Born to Diva on VH1. She won the competition! The famous TV personality Sharon Osbourne announced her as the winner. Tarralyn even performed at the VH1 Divas Duets concert. She sang alongside huge stars like Whitney Houston, Beyoncé, and Chaka Khan.
After winning, she signed a record deal with Casablanca/Universal Records. Her second album, also called Tarralyn, came out on June 8, 2004. It included the hit song "Up Against All Odds."
Her win on Born to Diva made her very popular. She was featured on TV shows like Entertainment Tonight. She also appeared in many magazines. These included Vibe, Ebony, Jet, People, and Seventeen. To promote her album, she opened for Mary J. Blige on her "No More Drama" Tour. She also joined other tours and performed at famous places like Carnegie Hall.
On The Voice and The X Factor
In 2009, Tarralyn Ramsey was invited to be on The Voice. She was the very first contestant to perform on the show. She sang "Breathe" by Faith Hill. She joined Christina Aguilera's team. Tarralyn made it to the Battle Rounds. There, she performed "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)" with Frenchie Davis.
After her time on The Voice, she released her third album. It was a gospel album called Beyond the Darkness. She released it in 2009 on her own record label, Taraprincel Records.
In 2012, Tarralyn also auditioned for The X Factor USA. All four judges, Simon Cowell, Demi Lovato, L.A. Reid, and Britney Spears, said "Yes" to her. However, she did not move on to the next stage of the competition.
Independent Music
After her TV show experiences, Tarralyn started her own music company. It is called Nylarrat Ent. Group. On December 10, 2014, she released a holiday album called 'Tis the Season for Miracles. She also released a new song called "Love" that year. In 2016, she released another song called "Hope."
Since then, she has released two more holiday albums. These are O Holy Night in 2017 and Winter Wonderland in 2020. Her most recent song, "Jesus We Need You," came out in April 2021.
