Early Life and Education

Tasha Schumann was born in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. Her parents came from Germany and Jamaica. She is also related to Erroll Starr, a famous rhythm and blues singer from the 1980s who won a Juno Award.

After finishing high school, Tasha moved to Toronto. She studied psychology at the University of Toronto. While she was there, she started her journey into the music world.

Music Career Highlights

Tasha the Amazon began releasing her own songs between 2013 and 2015. She also put out a mixtape called FIDIYOOTDEM. Her first full album, Die Every Day, was released in 2016. The next year, in 2017, this album was nominated for a Juno Award for Rap Album of the Year.

Later in 2017, Tasha made history by winning the MuchMusic Video Award for Best Hip Hop Video for her song "Picasso Leaning." She was the first female artist to ever win this award!

She also worked with another musician named Danger on a song for his album 太鼓 in 2017. In 2019, Tasha released her second album, which was called Black Moon.
