Tate Claude George (born May 29, 1968) is an American former professional basketball player. He was chosen by the New Jersey Nets in the 1990 NBA draft. Tate George played as a guard, standing 6 feet 5 inches tall and weighing 190 pounds. He played for four years in the NBA with the Nets and Milwaukee Bucks.

Tate George's College Basketball Journey

Tate George is well-known for an amazing shot he made in college. This happened during the 1990 NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament. His team, UConn, was playing against Clemson.

The Buzzer-Beater Shot

There was only one second left in the game. UConn was behind by just one point. His teammate, Scott Burrell, threw a long pass across the entire court to Tate George. Tate caught the ball, quickly turned around, and shot it from about 15 feet away. The ball went into the basket just as the clock ran out! UConn won the game in a very exciting finish.

Playing in the CBA

After his college career, Tate George also played in the CBA. He was part of the Quad City Thunder team in the 1993–94 season. His team won the CBA championship that year. Tate George was a key player, scoring an average of 16.4 points per game. The Thunder won the championship series against the Omaha Racers. They won three games in a row while playing away from home.

Tate George's NBA Career

Tate George played in the NBA for a few seasons. He started his professional career with the New Jersey Nets. He later also played for the Milwaukee Bucks.
