Tatsuya Endo's Manga Career
Before becoming a famous artist, Tatsuya Endo worked as an assistant. He helped with well-known manga series such as Blue Exorcist and Fire Punch. He learned a lot from experienced manga artists like Yasuhiro Kanō.
Like many manga artists, Endo started by creating "one-shots." These are short, complete stories, usually just one chapter. Some of these early stories later influenced his longer manga series.
After creating Tista and Blade of the Moon Princess, he worked with his editor, Shihei Lin. They had known each other for over 10 years. Together, they planned a new series for Shōnen Jump+. This new manga combined the best parts of Endo's earlier works. It became Spy × Family.
His editor said that everyone in their department loved Spy × Family. They decided to publish it almost immediately. By 2019, Spy × Family was one of the top ten most popular manga on their website. It also became one of the most popular anime shows in 2022.

Tatsuya Endo's Drawing Style
When Tatsuya Endo first started, he drew more serious and dark stories. His early works like Tista had a darker feel. After drawing many dark stories, his editor, Shihei Lin, suggested something different. He encouraged Endo to create a "bright and cheerful manga."
One of his one-shot stories, I Spy, was a step in this new direction. It still had some serious parts but was much more cheerful. Spy × Family is his first work that is completely cheerful.
His editor says that Endo thinks carefully about every part of his stories. If someone suggests an idea, he quickly spots any problems. He also likes to create characters that are deep and well-thought-out. This helps him tell stories where characters change and grow. To keep improving, Tatsuya Endo reads many manga, novels, and books.
