Growing Up
Tawiah was born in Battersea, a part of South West London. Her parents came from Ghana. She grew up with her two brothers in a public housing building. Tawiah remembers her childhood being full of fun, laughter, and playing outside.
Her family was part of a Pentecostal church. This is where Tawiah first started singing. She became a young leader in the church's Gospel Choir. This helped her practice and improve her singing skills a lot.
Tawiah loved music from a young age. She was inspired by jazz, soul, R&B, and Gospel music. She also learned to play the piano, guitar, and clarinet. She went to Burntwood Academy for girls and sang in their classical choir. Her music teacher saw her talent and suggested she apply to the BRIT School. This is a famous school for performing arts, and Tawiah was accepted!

She has also performed with other famous musicians. In 2018, she toured with Moses Sumney to share her Recreate music. In 2020, she toured with Michael Kiwanuka after her Starts Again album came out.
Tawiah has worked with many different artists. Some of these include Blood Orange, Kindness, Mark Ronson, Cee-Lo, and Kano. She also helped write and sing on a song called "Wait for Now" by The Cinematic Orchestra.
