Taylor Kitsch is a Canadian actor born on April 8, 1981. He is well-known for playing Tim Riggins in the TV show Friday Night Lights from 2006 to 2011.
He has also appeared in many movies. Some of these include X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009), Battleship (2012), and John Carter (2012). More recently, he was in Only The Brave (2017) and 21 Bridges (2019).
Taylor Kitsch also starred in the second season of the HBO series True Detective in 2015. He played David Koresh in the miniseries Waco (2018). In 2022, he was a CIA agent in the Amazon Prime Video series The Terminal List.

Taylor Kitsch's Early Life
Taylor Kitsch was born in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada. His mother, Susan, worked for the BC Liquor Board. His father, Drew Kitsch, worked in construction. His parents separated when he was just one year old.
Taylor and his two older brothers, Brody and Daman, were raised by their mother. They lived in a mobile home park. He also has two younger half-sisters. Taylor grew up in Port Moody and Anmore. He went to Gleneagle Secondary School in Coquitlam.
His Hockey Dream
Taylor started playing ice hockey when he was three years old. He played for the Langley Hornets in the British Columbia Hockey League. Sadly, a knee injury in 2002 ended his hockey career. After his injury, Taylor studied nutrition and economics at the University of Lethbridge for a year.
Taylor Kitsch's Acting Career
In 2002, Taylor Kitsch moved to New York City. He had a chance to become a model with IMG. While there, he also started studying acting. To support himself, he worked as a nutritionist and a personal trainer. For a short time in New York, he didn't have a home and sometimes slept on subway trains.
Moving to Los Angeles
In 2004, he moved to Los Angeles. He continued modeling for brands like Diesel and Abercrombie & Fitch. He also appeared in a special photo book called About Face.
Breakthrough Role in Friday Night Lights
In 2006, Taylor got his big break. He was cast in the NBC sports drama Friday Night Lights. This show was based on a 2004 movie of the same name. It was set in the fictional town of Dillon, Texas.
Taylor played Tim Riggins, a high school student and football player. The show started in October 2006 and was very popular with critics and viewers. Taylor played Tim Riggins for five seasons. He has said he would not play the role again if there was a movie sequel.
Other Early Film Roles
Taylor also appeared in the 2006 movie The Covenant. In February 2008, he was chosen to play Gambit in the X-Men Origins: Wolverine movie. This film was released in May 2009. Taylor said he loved the character and his powers.
Working on The Bang Bang Club
In 2010, Taylor starred in The Bang Bang Club. This historical drama was set in South Africa. It showed the last days of apartheid. For this role, Taylor had to lose 35 pounds in two months. He played photojournalist Kevin Carter.

In 2012, Taylor starred in the Disney film John Carter. He played the main character, a soldier transported to Mars. Even though the movie didn't do well at the box office, Taylor said he was very proud of it.
In May 2012, Taylor also starred in Battleship. This movie was based on the popular board game. He played Lieutenant Alex Hopper. This film reunited him with director Peter Berg and his Friday Night Lights co-star, Jesse Plemons.

Taylor Kitsch's Personal Life
In 2012, Taylor Kitsch bought land near Lake Austin, Texas. He started building a house there in 2015. He currently lives in Bozeman, Montana. While working on the film Lone Survivor, he became friends with retired Navy SEAL Marcus Luttrell. Since then, Taylor has been interested in helping veterans.
