Jesse Plemons (born April 2, 1988) is an American actor. He started acting when he was a child. He became well-known for his role as Landry Clarke in the TV show Friday Night Lights (2006–2011).
Later, he played Todd Alquist in the crime drama Breaking Bad (2012–2013). He also appeared in the movie that followed, El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie (2019). For his role in Fargo (2015), he won a Critics' Choice Television Award. He was also nominated for an Primetime Emmy Award for his acting in the show Black Mirror (2017).
Jesse Plemons has been in many movies. Some of these include The Master (2012), Bridge of Spies (2015), and The Irishman (2019). He also starred in Other People (2016) and I'm Thinking of Ending Things (2020). For his role in The Power of the Dog (2021), he was nominated for an Academy Award. In 2024, he won the Cannes Film Festival Award for Best Actor for his work in Kinds of Kindness.

Early Life and Education
Jesse Plemons was born in Dallas, Texas. He grew up in Mart, Texas, which is close to Waco. He has an older sister named Jill.
In 2007, Jesse finished high school through a special online program. This program let him earn his diploma while he was also acting. He used to play football in middle school and high school in Mart. But as he got more acting jobs, he switched to the online school.
Acting Career Highlights
Early Roles (1991–2006)
Jesse Plemons started acting very young. He was only three and a half years old when he appeared in a Coca-Cola commercial. When he was eight, he began doing extra work in movies and TV shows. His family supported him as he went to auditions in Los Angeles.
He had small parts in movies like Varsity Blues (1999) and All the Pretty Horses (2000). He also appeared on TV shows such as Walker, Texas Ranger and Sabrina, the Teenage Witch. His first bigger role was in the film Children on their Birthdays (2002). He also appeared in Like Mike (2002) and When Zachary Beaver Came to Town (2003).
Breakthrough with Friday Night Lights (2006–2011)
In 2006, when Jesse was 18, he joined the cast of Friday Night Lights. This TV show was filmed in Austin, Texas. It was about a high school football team in a fictional town called Dillon, Texas.
In the first season, Jesse played Landry Clarke. Landry was the best friend of the football quarterback, Matt Saracen. Landry's character often brought humor to the show. Even though Landry wasn't on the football team at first, Jesse was actually a good football player in real life.
Landry joined the football team in the second season. Jesse, who had played football in high school, told the director he would do his own stunts. During one scene, he got a cut on his chin that needed stitches. Friday Night Lights was very popular with fans and critics. The show ran for five seasons and ended in 2011.
In 2012, Jesse worked again with Taylor Kitsch, who played Tim Riggins in Friday Night Lights. They were in the movie Battleship, which was directed by Peter Berg, the creator of Friday Night Lights. Peter Berg said he knew Jesse was good for Taylor and made him better.
Character Roles and Recognition (2011–2019)
From 2012 to 2013, Jesse Plemons played Todd Alquist in the final season of the TV show Breaking Bad. He was a recurring character at first and then became a regular cast member.
In 2012, Jesse also had a supporting role in the movie The Master. He played the son of a character played by Philip Seymour Hoffman. People sometimes compared Jesse's looks to Philip Seymour Hoffman's. In 2014, Jesse was considered for a role in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but the part went to another actor.
In 2015, Jesse played a mobster named Kevin Weeks in the movie Black Mass. He also appeared in The Program and the Steven Spielberg film Bridge of Spies.
Later in 2015, Jesse co-starred in the second season of Fargo. He played Ed Blumquist, a butcher married to Peggy Blumquist, played by Kirsten Dunst. Recent Work (2020–present)
In 2020, Jesse Plemons received praise for his main role in the movie I'm Thinking of Ending Things. In 2021, he had supporting roles in Judas and the Black Messiah and the Disney adventure film Jungle Cruise. That same year, he starred in the horror film Antlers.
He also starred alongside his real-life partner and Fargo co-star Kirsten Dunst in The Power of the Dog. For this role, he received many awards and nominations, including an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor nomination. In 2022, Jesse starred in and produced the thriller Windfall.
In 2023, Jesse starred with Elizabeth Olsen in the TV series Love & Death. He also worked again with director Martin Scorsese in the movie Killers of the Flower Moon. This film also starred Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro. In 2024, Jesse won the Cannes Film Festival Award for Best Actor for his roles in the film Kinds of Kindness.

Personal Life
Jesse Plemons is married to fellow actor Kirsten Dunst. They started dating in March 2016 after working together on Fargo. They got engaged a year later.
The couple has two sons. Their first son was born in 2018, and their second son was born in 2021. In February 2022, both Jesse and Kirsten were nominated for Academy Awards for their roles in The Power of the Dog. They officially got married in July 2022.
