History of Taylorsville
Taylorsville was founded in 1846. It was named after the local Taylor family, who lived in the area.
A post office opened in 1849. It was first called New Corwin. In 1897, its name was changed to Taylorsville. The post office closed in 1935.
1961 Tornado Event
On May 8, 1961, a strong windstorm called an F1 tornado hit Taylorsville. The police chief from Mt. Orab saw it. This tornado also affected nearby places like White Oak, Bethel, Shiloh, and Gath.
The tornado damaged trees and roofs. One house in Mt. Orab had its roof completely torn off. The total damage from the storm was about $2,500.
