About Team Rezofficial
Team Rezofficial was formed in 2003. They quickly became known for their unique sound in Canadian hip hop. The group's music often shared stories and experiences from their lives and communities.
Awards and Recognition
Team Rezofficial's first album was called The Foundation. It was a big success! In 2004, this album won the Canadian Aboriginal Music Award for Best Rap / Hip-Hop album.
The group continued to receive nominations for their music. They were nominated for a Western Canadian Music Award in both 2005 and 2009. In 2007, they also received nominations for an Aboriginal Peoples' Choice Award and another Canadian Aboriginal Music Award. These awards showed how much their music was appreciated.
Hit Songs and Olympic Performance
In 2009, Team Rezofficial released their second album, The World (And Everything in It). A song from this album, "Lonely", made history. It was the first song by an Indigenous group to reach number one on Much Music's RapCity chart. This was a huge achievement for the band!
The album The World (And Everything in It) was also nominated for Aboriginal Recording of the Year at the Juno Awards of 2009. The Juno Awards are one of Canada's most important music awards.
In February 2010, Team Rezofficial had a special performance. They played at the Aboriginal Pavilion during the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. This was a great opportunity for them to share their music with people from all over the world.
What Happened Next
After 2010, the members of Team Rezofficial decided to go their separate ways. They each started working on different projects. For example, Tomislav Milardovic became a pastor. Jay Mak has continued to make music, which you can find on the Rezofficial website.
