Teewah Beach is a long, sandy beach in Queensland, Australia. It stretches for about 51 kilometres. The beach starts near Double Island Point and goes all the way to the Noosa River. It is a special part of the Great Sandy National Park.

Driving on Teewah Beach

A big part of Teewah Beach is actually used as a road! Many people with 4WD (four-wheel drive) vehicles use it. It's a handy way to get to places like Rainbow Beach and Fraser Island.

The beach is also a popular spot for camping. People love to set up camp right on the sand. If you want to camp or drive on the beach, you usually need to pay a fee. Just remember, some parts, like the Noosa North Shore area, are not open for cars.

Using the beach as a road can be tricky. During holidays, many cars drive on the sand. This means drivers need to be very careful. Fast cars can be dangerous for people playing or relaxing on the beach. Safety is always important when driving here.

The Cherry Venture Shipwreck

For many years, a famous shipwreck was a landmark on Teewah Beach. This was the Cherry Venture, a cargo ship from Singapore. It got stuck on the sand on July 8, 1973.

The ship's rusty remains were a popular sight for tourists. People often climbed on it, even though it was dangerous. Because it became too unsafe, the ship's wreck was removed in 2007. Today, you can find its large stainless steel propeller in Rainbow Beach. It stands there as a monument to the ship.

Teewah Coloured Sands

Along Teewah Beach, you can see amazing sand cliffs called the Teewah Coloured Sands (26°16′00″S 153°04′00″E / 26.26667°S 153.06667°E / -26.26667; 153.06667 (Teewah Coloured Sands)). These cliffs are very tall, some reaching up to 200 metres high!

What makes them so special is their incredible range of colours. The sand has different shades because of natural things mixed in. These include iron oxide, which gives a reddish colour, and natural plant dyes. It's like a giant, colourful painting made by nature!
