Tega Cay is located west of Fort Mill and north of Rock Hill. It is also a suburb of Charlotte, North Carolina, meaning it's a smaller town near a big city. In 2020, about 12,832 people lived there.
Tega Cay sits on a piece of land that sticks out into Lake Wylie. This land is called a peninsula. The city is about twenty miles south of Charlotte. The name Tega Cay might come from an old Polynesian language. People say it means "Beautiful Peninsula," but this isn't fully confirmed.

Geography and Climate
Tega Cay is located at about 35 degrees North and 81 degrees West. The city covers a total area of about 3.2 square miles (8.2 square kilometers). Most of this area, about 2.5 square miles (6.4 square kilometers), is land. The rest, about 0.7 square miles (1.7 square kilometers), is water. Tega Cay has a long shoreline, stretching about 13 miles (21 kilometers) along Lake Wylie.
The land in Tega Cay is hilly and covered with many trees. You can find different kinds of hardwood trees and pine trees here. Many types of wildlife also live in these forests.

Tega Cay is a great place for outdoor fun.
- There's a public 27-hole golf course with a clubhouse.

- There are also two lighted pickleball courts.
- Miles of walking trails let you explore nature.
- The city has thirteen parks. Three of these parks have fields for baseball or soccer.
- Two parks are right by Lake Wylie.
- There's a city swimming pool next to Lake Wylie (you need a membership to use it).
- You can launch boats from three different spots.
- A private marina is also available for boats.
The city is also planning a large 62-acre park along the Catawba River. This new park will have:
- More walking trails.
- Four baseball or softball fields.
- Six youth soccer fields.
- Playgrounds for everyone.
- An amphitheater for shows.
- A place to launch paddle boats onto the river.

Tega Cay has several parks right on the water, like Windjammer Park and Pitcarin Park.
