How to Play Temple Run
In the Temple Run games, you control a character from behind their back. Your character runs automatically, and your job is to help them avoid obstacles and collect coins.
Moving Your Character
- To move your character left or right, you swipe your finger across the screen in that direction. This helps you grab coins or dodge things in your way.
- If you need to slide under an obstacle, swipe your finger downwards.
- To jump over something, swipe your finger upwards.
- When the path turns, you must swipe your finger in the direction of the turn (left or right). If you don't turn in time, your character will fall off the path!
Collecting Coins and Power-ups
As you run, you'll see different types of coins:
- Gold coins add one coin to your total.
- Red coins are worth two coins.
- Blue coins are worth three coins.
You can use these coins to buy and upgrade cool power-ups. You can also unlock new characters to play with. If you need more coins quickly, you can buy them using real money through in-app purchases.
If you hit an obstacle or miss a turn, your character will fall or get caught. Then, the game ends, and you have to start over! The goal is to run as far as you can and get a high score.

Temple Run: Treasure Hunters
In late 2016, a company called Scopely started testing a new Temple Run game. It was called Temple Run: Treasure Hunters. This game was different because it was a match-3 puzzle game, not an endless runner. It was planned to come out in 2017 for iOS and Android phones.
