Temple Run is a video game made by Imangi Studios. It is available for play on iOS systems, Android, and Windows Phone. In the iTunes store, it was in the top 50 most-downloaded apps in December 2011 and also became the number 1 free iOS app. It reached the position of the top moneymaking iOS app. The game itself used to be 99 cents, but now it is free. It makes money when people purchase in-game coins.
Gameplay
The game's main character is Guy Dangerous. He and other explorers (Scarlett Fox, Barry Bones, Karma Lee, Montana Smith, Francisco Montoya, and Zack Wonder) take a little statue relic from an ancient temple. The player controls their character as he runs from evil monkeys. The "run" begins at the temple, but there is no finish line. The object of the game is to run as far as possible while avoiding obstacles, getting coins, and turning corners. The player must make their character jump (slide finger forward), duck (slide finger backward), or turn (slide finger to the right or left), all while tilting their device to the right or left to make the character run on the correct side of the path.
The coins on the path are usually in the shape of a yellow diamond but according to their point value, they can also be a red diamond (a 2-point coin) or a blue diamond (a 3-point coin). Coins can be earned in gameplay to unlock objectives (goals) and be spent at the store.
Production
Husband-and-wife team Keith Shepherd and Natalia Luckyanova, along with artist Kiril Tchangov, created the games Harbor Master and Temple Run. At first, the game was released for 99 cents, but soon enough they released Temple Run free, but with purchasable in-game coins. This made the game make five times as much money. Both Shepherd and Luckyanova made the game, while Tchangov made the pictures.
