Terrence Edwards (born April 20, 1979) is a former professional Canadian football player. He was a wide receiver, a player who catches passes from the quarterback. Terrence played for nine seasons in the Canadian Football League (CFL). He was a key player for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers and Montreal Alouettes.

Before joining the CFL, he was first signed by the Atlanta Falcons in 2003. He played college football for the Georgia Bulldogs. Terrence is also the younger brother of Robert Edwards, who was also a professional football player.

College Football Career

Terrence Edwards played college football at the University of Georgia. He was a student there from 1999 to 2002. During his time, he caught 204 passes. He gained 3,093 yards and scored 30 touchdowns.

He set a record for most receiving yards in the SEC. This record stood until 2013. As of 2023, his 204 catches still rank among the top ten in the conference. In his final year, 2002, he had 59 catches for 1,004 yards and 11 touchdowns.

Professional Football Journey

Starting with the Atlanta Falcons

After college, Terrence Edwards was not chosen in the 2003 NFL draft. However, the Atlanta Falcons signed him on April 29, 2003. Even though he missed a game due to injury, he made the team.

He played in six regular season games. His first NFL game was on September 28 against the Carolina Panthers. He made his only NFL catch on November 30. It was a 10-yard catch from quarterback Doug Johnson.

An injury kept him from playing much in 2004. He was then released from the team. He did not play in the NFL again. His NFL career ended with one catch for ten yards.

Playing in the CFL

After a year away from football, Edwards joined the Toronto Argonauts in the CFL in 2005. He was later released by them. The Montreal Alouettes then signed him. He caught six passes for 44 yards in two games that season.

In 2006, still with Montreal, he caught 33 passes. He gained 393 yards and scored one touchdown. He also ran with the ball twice for 18 yards.

Terrence Edwards signed with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on May 24, 2007. This was a big year for him. He became one of the league's top receivers. He was fifth in catches (80) and second in yards (1,280). He also tied for second with nine touchdown catches.

He earned his third East Division All-Star award in 2011. Even at 33 years old, he continued to play well. The Blue Bombers extended his contract for two more years in 2012. On February 18, 2014, Terrence Edwards announced he was retiring from football.
