Terry McLaurin (born September 15, 1995) is an American professional football player. He is a wide receiver for the Washington Commanders in the National Football League (NFL). Terry played college football for the Ohio State Buckeyes. The Washington team chose him in the third round of the 2019 NFL draft. In 2024, McLaurin set a team record with 13 touchdown catches in one season. He also earned special honors as a second-team All-Pro player.

Early Life and High School Football
Terry McLaurin was born on September 15, 1995, in Indianapolis, Indiana. He played football for Cathedral High School. In 2013, he won the state's Mr. Football Award. Experts thought he was a very talented player, rating him as a four-star recruit in 2014.
College Football Career
Terry McLaurin started his college career at Ohio State in 2014. He took a "redshirt" year, meaning he practiced but did not play in games.
Playing for the Buckeyes
In 2015, Terry played in six games. He mostly helped on special teams, making seven tackles. As a sophomore in 2016, he caught 11 passes for 114 yards and scored two touchdowns. He played in 13 games that year.

Professional NFL Career
The Washington Redskins picked Terry McLaurin in the third round of the 2019 NFL draft. He was the 76th player chosen overall. His college quarterback, Dwayne Haskins, was also drafted by Washington in the first round. Terry signed his first four-year contract on June 6, 2019.
First Season: 2019
Terry became a starter right away in his first NFL game. He caught five passes for 125 yards, including a 69-yard touchdown. Over his first three games, he caught at least five passes and a touchdown in each. This made him the first player in NFL history to do so.
In Week 6, he caught four passes for 100 yards and two touchdowns. This helped Washington win their first game of the season. He finished his first year with 58 catches for 919 yards and seven touchdowns. He was named to the PFWA All-Rookie Team.
Second Season: 2020

In Week 2, Terry had seven catches for 125 yards and his first touchdown of the season. Later, his teammates voted him to be a team captain. He suffered an ankle injury in Week 15 and missed one game. Despite many different quarterbacks, he finished the season with 1,118 yards and four touchdowns. His team won their division.
Third Season: 2021
In March 2021, Terry's college roommate, Curtis Samuel, joined the Washington team. In a Week 2 game, Terry caught 11 passes for 107 yards and a touchdown. He had 123 yards and two touchdowns in a Week 4 win. He also had 103 yards and a touchdown in a Week 11 win. Terry played in all 17 games that season. Fourth Season: 2022
Before the 2022 season, Terry signed a new three-year contract worth $71 million. In Week 8, he played in his hometown of Indianapolis for the first time as a pro. He made a huge 33-yard catch late in the game. This helped his team score a touchdown and win the game 17–16. He finished that game with 113 yards.

Fifth Season: 2023
In Week 15, Terry had his best game for receiving yards. He caught 6 passes for 141 yards and one touchdown. He finished the season with four touchdowns and 1,002 yards. This made him the first Washington player to have four straight seasons with over 1,000 receiving yards.
Sixth Season: 2024
In a Week 3 game, Terry caught a 27-yard touchdown pass. This helped seal a victory for his team. He finished that game with 100 yards and a touchdown. He scored touchdowns in back-to-back games for the first time since 2020. In Week 6, he caught two touchdowns, his first game with multiple scores since 2021.
Terry caught two more touchdowns in a Week 9 win. In Week 12, he caught a career-long 86-yard touchdown pass. He broke his personal record for touchdowns in a season in Week 13. Terry finished the 2024 season with 13 touchdown catches. This set a new record for the Commanders team. He also had over 1,000 receiving yards for the fifth year in a row. He was named a second-team All-Pro and was chosen for the Pro Bowl.
Playoffs and 2025 Season
In his second playoff appearance, Terry had seven catches for 89 yards and one touchdown. This helped his team win their first playoff game. He then had four catches for 87 yards and another touchdown in the next game. This win sent Washington to the NFC Championship Game.
On July 15, 2025, Terry McLaurin shared his feelings with the media. He was upset about how slowly his contract extension talks were going. He did not show up for the first four days of training camp. He reported on July 27 and was placed on a list for an ankle injury.
