Teton Pass Ski Area is a cool place to go skiing and snowboarding in Montana. It's located in the beautiful Rocky Mountain Front area. This spot is west of the town of Choteau and east of the Continental Divide. The Continental Divide is like a big line in the mountains that separates which way rivers flow.

Exploring Teton Pass Ski Area

Teton Pass Ski Area is a fun spot for winter sports fans. It has a good amount of space for skiing and lots of trails to explore. The highest point you can ski from is 7,200 feet (about 2,195 meters) up. The base, where you start, is at 6,190 feet (about 1,887 meters).

What's on the Slopes?

This ski area has 114 acres (about 0.5 square kilometers) of land where you can ski. There are 26 different trails, so you have many choices! The longest run is almost a mile long, about 0.95 miles (1.5 kilometers).

To get up the mountain, Teton Pass Ski Area has two main lifts. There's one double chairlift that carries two people at a time. There's also one rope tow, which is a simpler lift where you hold onto a rope. The area gets a lot of snow, usually around 250 inches (about 635 centimeters) each year. That's a lot of fresh powder!

A Look at the History

Teton Pass Ski Area has been around for a while, but it has changed names and owners over the years. In the 1990s, it was known by a different name: Rocky Mountain Hi.

Changes and Reopenings

In July 2010, a person from New Zealand named Nick Wood bought the ski area. However, for the 2011-2012 winter season, the resort couldn't get the right insurance. Because of this, it had to stay closed that year.

The ski area closed again in 2017 and didn't open for a couple of years. But then, in 2019, a former manager named Charles Hlavac bought it. He was from Choteau, the nearby town. The ski area was first listed for sale at a high price, but it eventually sold for much less, allowing it to open its doors again for skiers and snowboarders.
