Thaísa Daher de Menezes (born May 15, 1987) is a famous Brazilian volleyball player. She is known for being a powerful middle blocker. Thaísa has won many awards for being the best at spiking and blocking the ball. Many people think she is one of the greatest Brazilian volleyball players ever!

She won two gold medals in a row at the Olympic Games. These were at the 2008 Beijing Olympics and the 2012 London Olympics. She also won a bronze medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

About Thaísa

Thaísa was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Her father, Domingos de Menezes, was a serviceman. Her mother, Monica Daher, has family roots from Lebanon.

When she was younger, Thaísa loved to swim. She swam until she was 13 years old. Then, she decided to try volleyball, just like her brother Tiago.

A year later, she joined the youth team at the Tizhuk club. There, she met Julio Cugna, a great coach for young athletes. In 2002, when Thaísa was just 15, she joined the Minas team. This team was one of the best in Brazil. In her first season, her team won a silver medal in the Brazilian championship.

In 2002, Thaísa also started playing for two of Brazil's national teams: the youth team and the junior team. She helped both teams win the South American championships. The next year, she became a world champion with both the youth and junior teams.

Her Volleyball Journey

Olympic and World Success

Thaísa was a key player for the Brazilian team. She helped them win the gold medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics.

In 2010, she won a silver medal with her club team, Sollys Osasco, at the FIVB World Club Championship. She was also named the "Best Spiker" at this event.

Thaísa continued to shine. In 2011, she won the "Best Blocker" award at the Pan-American Cup. Her national team also won the gold medal there. Later that year, she won another gold medal with the national team at the Pan American Games in Mexico.

At the 2012 FIVB World Grand Prix, Thaísa's team won a silver medal. She also received an award for being the "Best Blocker" again.

The Brazilian national team, with Thaísa, won the gold medal at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. This was her second Olympic gold!

Playing for Sollys Nestlé Osasco, Thaísa won the gold medal at the 2012 FIVB Club World Championship in Qatar. She also earned the "Best Spiker" award there.

In 2014, her club team, Molico Osasco, won a silver medal at the FIVB Club World Championship. Thaísa was recognized as one of the "Best Middle Blockers" in the tournament.

Later in 2014, Thaísa and the Brazilian national team won a bronze medal at the World Championship. They beat Italy in a close match.

Return to the National Team

Thaísa decided to stop playing for the national team in 2018. But in 2023, she announced her return! She played in the 2023 FIVB Volleyball Women's Nations League and helped her team qualify for the Olympics.

She was part of Brazil's team at the 2024 Paris Olympics. After winning a bronze medal there, she announced her retirement from the national team once more.
