Thando Thabethe, born on June 18, 1990, is a talented South African actress and radio DJ. She is well-known for hosting TV shows like Thando Bares All on TLC and for being a popular radio host on 947. Thando was also the first African person to become a brand ambassador for Nivea. In 2019, she was recognized by Forbes Africa as one of their "30 Under 30" young leaders. She currently hosts the "947 Drive With Thando" radio show.

Thando's Early Life and Schooling
Thando Thabethe grew up in Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa. She went to Mondeor High School. In 2018, her old school invited her back to give an inspiring speech to the students who were about to take their final exams.
After high school, Thando studied at the University of Johannesburg. She earned a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom.) Accounting degree in 2011. Thando lived with her mother for most of her teenage years because her father passed away when she was 13.
Thando started acting in theatre plays when she was a teenager. She got her first TV role at just 14 years old. While at university, she also performed in theatre productions at the UJ Arts Centre. She began working at UJFM, a community radio station at the University of Johannesburg, first as a news reader and later as a radio DJ.
Thando's Career Journey
Starting Out in Radio and TV (2008–2013)
Thando began her radio career in 2008 at UJFM. In 2011, while still in her final year of university, she moved to the popular youth radio station YFM. At the same time, she played the main character, Thando Nkosi, in the sitcom My Perfect Family. This show aired for three seasons.
Later, in 2013, she joined 5FM on The Roger Goode Show. .....
Becoming a Star: Generations and NIVEA (2014–2017)
From 2014 to 2017, Thando played the role of Nolwazi Buzo in Generations: The Legacy, a famous South African soap opera. In 2014, Thabethe became a brand ambassador for Nivea. This was a big deal because she was the first African person to represent the German body-care brand.
After joining 5FM, she started hosting her own weekday show in 2016, called The Thando Thabooty Show. This show later became The Thabooty Drive in 2017. In 2016, she starred in her first feature film, Mrs Right Guy. She acted alongside Dineo Moeketsi, Thapelo Mokoena, and Lehasa Moloi in this movie.
Thando also hosted major events during this time. In 2016, she co-hosted the South African Music Awards with Somizi Mhlongo. In 2017, she hosted the South African Film and Television Awards.
New Shows and Leaving 5FM (2018–2020)
Thando launched her own television talk show, Thando Bares All, on TLC. The first episode aired on June 2, 2018.
In 2018, she starred as Linda Ndlovu in the exciting drama series Housekeepers. She continued her role in the second season of the series in 2019. Also in 2019, she played the main character, Zinhle Malinga, in the successful movie Love Lives Here.
In 2019, Thando was nominated for Best TV Host and Best Talk Show for Thando Bares All. She won the award for Best Talk Show.
After working at 5FM for five years, Thando Thabethe left the station in March 2020. Her final Thabooty show on 5FM was on March 5, 2020. She later explained her reasons for leaving on Twitter.
Joining 947 and Judging Miss South Africa (2021-Present)
Following DJ Fresh's departure from 947, Thando Thabethe took over the drive time radio slot at 3 PM on March 23, 2021.
On May 12, 2022, it was announced that she would be a judge for Miss South Africa 2022.
Thando's Personal Life
Thando's father passed away when she was 13 years old and in grade 8. She also experienced another sad loss when her brother, Sibu Thabethe, was shot and killed during an armed robbery in 2015.
