The British Animal Honours was a special awards show in the United Kingdom. It celebrated amazing animals and the wonderful people who spend their lives helping them. The show was broadcast on ITV and hosted by the famous presenter Paul O'Grady.
People from all over the country could suggest animals for an award. Then, a group of animal experts chose the winners. It was a way to shine a light on the incredible bond between humans and animals.
The 2013 Awards Ceremony
The very first British Animal Honours show took place on Thursday, April 18, 2013. It was shown on ITV, STV, and UTV. Paul O'Grady was the host for this exciting event.
The ceremony featured some fantastic performances. There was a special act from the National Theatre's play War Horse, which tells the story of a horse during wartime. A group of dancing dogs, led by trainer Gina Pink from Kennel Club, also put on a show. Even the South Wales Police Dog Section showed off their amazing police dogs.
The awards were supported by Animal Friends Pet Insurance. This company also helps to sponsor Paul O'Grady's other popular show, For the Love of Dogs.
