Mysterious Christmas Chaos
The episode begins at a Christmas party. A large wrapped box appears at the front door. Guests bring the box inside and place it near the Christmas tree. Later that night, a creature that looks like a goblin climbs out of the box. This creature, called a Wesen, then lets two more goblin-like Wesen into the house. They start making a big mess and cause trouble. The noise wakes up the couple living there. When the husband goes downstairs to check, the three Wesen attack him before running away.
Investigating the Attack
Nick (David Giuntoli), who is a Grimm, works with his detective partner Hank (Russell Hornsby) and officer Wu (Reggie Lee) to investigate the strange home invasion. They talk to the wife, Emma, to learn what happened. Nick and Hank notice that the gift box was opened from the inside. They also find fruitcake crumbs all around the box. This makes them wonder if the fruitcake is important to the mystery.
Meanwhile, Monroe (Silas Weir Mitchell) asks Rosalee (Bree Turner) to go on their delayed honeymoon, and she happily agrees. Monroe and Rosalee are both Wesen, but they are good friends with Nick and often help him understand the Wesen world.
Trubel's Discovery
Trubel (Jacqueline Toboni) is another Grimm who is staying with Nick. As she is leaving the house, Josh (Lucas Near-Verbrugghe) asks to go with her. He wants to prove he is brave and helpful. They decide to watch Shaw, a person who has been talking about Trubel's special abilities as a Grimm. While Trubel is looking into a window from outside, a different type of Wesen, called a Schakal, finds her. Luckily, Josh quickly knocks out the Schakal before it can hurt Trubel. Trubel finds a mask that belongs to a secret Wesen group, which gives them a clue.
Trubel tells Nick about what she found. Nick asks her to go with Bud (Danny Bruno), another friendly Wesen, to gather more information and names.
Understanding the Kallikantzaroi
Nick and Hank realize that three similar crimes have happened in the area. They discover that a church is located in the middle of all these strange events. Captain Renard (Sasha Roiz) talks with Nick about other ongoing issues, including Wu's growing questions about the Wesen world.
Soon, Nick and Hank are called to another house where the goblin-like Wesen are causing more trouble. Two of them run away, but one attacks Nick. Hank quickly steps in and knocks the creature out. Since they are not sure if it's a regular person or a Wesen, they decide to take it to Monroe and Rosalee for help.
At Monroe and Rosalee's spice shop, they learn that these creatures are called Kallikantzaroi. This is a special condition that affects some Wesen children, making them act out of control without knowing what they are doing. Monroe and Rosalee also discover that eating fruitcake can cure them of this condition.
The Cure for Chaos
While at the spice shop, the Kallikantzaroi they brought in escapes. Two more Kallikantzaroi arrive at the house, and they start causing chaos again. Monroe uses his Blutbad roar, which is a scary sound, to frighten them away. As they clean up the mess, Rosalee finds a medical bracelet for asthma.
Nick and Hank use the bracelet to identify one of the boys as John Katsaros (Greg Goran). They question his parents, who explain that John sings in a youth choir at the local church. Nick and Hank realize that the church is where the boys gather. They manage to guide the boys to a truck filled with fruitcakes parked outside the church. The boys eat the fruitcakes, and this cures them of their wild behavior.
Farewell to Trubel
The next day, Trubel tells Nick that Josh is going back to Philadelphia. She decides to go with him to continue her journey. Nick gives them Aunt Marie's car, and they share a goodbye hug. Trubel and Josh then drive off to Philadelphia.
