The New Adventures of Lucky Luke is a fun animated TV show from France and Canada. It aired from 2001 to 2003. This series is based on the famous Lucky Luke comic books, which were created by a Belgian artist named Morris. There are 52 episodes in total.

The show was directed by Olivier Jean-Marie and produced by Marc du Pontavice. It was made at the Xilam studios in Paris, France. The music for the series was created by Ramon Pipin and Hervé Lavandier. Later, a movie called Go West! A Lucky Luke Adventure was made in 2007, based on this TV series.

What is the show about?

Lucky Luke is a brave cowboy who is known for being super fast with his gun. He's even faster than his own shadow! His job is to keep things peaceful and orderly in the Wild West.

Who are Lucky Luke's friends?

Lucky Luke has a loyal horse named Jolly Jumper. Jolly Jumper is known as the smartest horse in the world. Sometimes, Lucky Luke also gets help from Rintindumb, who is known as the world's silliest dog.

Who are the bad guys?

Lucky Luke often has to chase after outlaws and keep troublemakers like Billy the Kid in line. His main challenge is constantly catching and returning a group of brothers called The Daltons to prison. They always seem to escape!

How the Show Was Made

This series was created ten years after the last Lucky Luke TV show. The goal for producer Marc du Pontavice was to make new episodes that felt fresh and modern.

Budget and New Stories

Fifty-two new episodes were made for this series. The total cost was about 120 million French francs, which is over 18 million Euros. All of these episodes tell brand new stories that were written just for the show.

Interesting Facts About Production

  • Sadly, Morris, the creator of Lucky Luke, passed away in July 2001. This means he never got to see the full series when it was released in September.
  • The show uses special colors to help tell the story. Colors show if a character is in the front or back, how they are feeling (like green for anger), or to set the mood (like red for fire).
  • Some characters in the show are based on real famous people or well-known characters from books. For example, you might spot characters that look like Roberto Benigni or Sherlock Holmes.
  • The series also features many historical figures like General Custer, Buffalo Bill, and even Queen Victoria.

Where Was It Shown?

In France, The New Adventures of Lucky Luke was broadcast on TV channels France 2 and France 3. In Canada, viewers could watch it on Télé-Québec.
