The New Shmoo is a fun animated TV show from the United States. It's based on a unique character called the Shmoo from the Li'l Abner comic strip, created by Al Capp. The show was made by Hanna-Barbera Productions and first aired on NBC in 1979. It's all about a friendly creature named Shmoo who can change his shape into anything!
The show first aired as its own half-hour series. Later, some episodes were shown as part of a bigger 90-minute show called Fred and Barney Meet the Shmoo. Even though the title sounds like they all met, Fred and Barney from The Flintstones, the Thing, and Shmoo only appeared together in short clips between their own cartoon segments.
What is The New Shmoo About?
This cartoon is a lot like Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!. It follows a group of three teenagers: Mickey, Nita, and Billy Joe. They work for a company called Mighty Mysteries Comics.
Their best friend is Shmoo, a very friendly and round creature. Shmoo has an amazing superpower: he can stretch and change his body into any shape he wants! This helps the team a lot. Together, the teens and Shmoo travel around solving all sorts of mysteries and crimes.
