TD Garden is a large sports arena located in Boston, Massachusetts. It first opened its doors on September 30, 1995. Today, it is the home stadium for two very popular sports teams: the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League (NHL) for ice hockey, and the Boston Celtics of the National Basketball Association (NBA) for basketball.

History of the Name

The arena has had a few different names since it opened. When it first started, it was known as FleetCenter. This name was used from 1995 until 2005.

In 2005, a company called TD Banknorth bought the rights to name the arena. So, on July 1, 2005, its name officially changed to TD Banknorth Garden. Later, the name was shortened to just TD Garden, which is what it's called today.

Exciting Events and Shows

Besides being a home for hockey and basketball, TD Garden has hosted many other exciting events. It's a popular place for big concerts and shows.

The arena has also been the site of many major WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) events. Some of these include:

  • WrestleMania XIV in 1998
  • King of the Ring in 2000
  • Royal Rumble in 2003
  • SummerSlam in 2006
  • Survivor Series in 2008
