The Tragically Hip are a famous Canadian rock band from Kingston, Ontario. People often call them "The Hip." The band has four current members: Rob Baker, Gord Sinclair, Johnny Fay, and Paul Langlois. Their lead singer, Gord Downie, was with the band until he passed away in 2017.

The band started playing music together in 1983. They released their first collection of songs, called an EP, in 1987. It was simply titled The Tragically Hip. Their first full album, Up to Here, came out on August 30, 1989. The band released many albums over the years, with their eleventh studio album, Now for Plan A, coming out in 2012.

The Tragically Hip have received many honors for their music. In 2002, they got a star on Canada's Walk of Fame. They were also added to the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 2005. They have won many Juno Awards, which are big music awards in Canada.
