The War that Made America facts for kids
The War that Made America is a PBS miniseries that tells the story of the French and Indian War. This war happened a long time ago, before the American Revolution. The show first aired in 2006 and was made by WQED in Pittsburgh.
The series uses many reenactments to show what happened. A Canadian actor named Graham Greene narrates the story. A big part of the series focuses on George Washington. It shows how his experiences in this war helped prepare him for the later American Revolution. The series also covers Pontiac's War, which took place right after the French and Indian War.
Filming for the series happened in 2004. They shot scenes in and around Western Pennsylvania, which is where many of the real events of the war took place.
A book called The War that Made America: A Short History of the French and Indian War (2005) goes along with the series. It was written by historian Fred Anderson.
