Theresa (pronounced "thə-REE-sə") is a small village located in Jefferson County, New York, in the United States. It's part of the larger Town of Theresa. In 2020, about 752 people lived there. The village is found northeast of a bigger city called Watertown.

History of Theresa Village
Early Beginnings
The idea for the village of Theresa started around 1818. It was planned near the high waterfalls on the Indian River. This river was important for early businesses.
First Businesses and Growth
The very first business in this spot opened in 1820. Just two years later, in 1822, a post office was set up. This helped the community grow. Theresa officially became a village in 1871. This meant it had its own local government.

Theresa covers a total area of about 3.4 square kilometers (1.3 square miles). A small part of this area, about 0.16 square kilometers (0.06 square miles), is water. The Indian River flows north through the village. This river is part of the Oswegatchie River system.

The village is located on New York State Route 26. This road is known as Main Street and Mill Street within Theresa. Other important roads include County Roads 21, 46, 193, and 194.
Route 26 connects Theresa to other places. If you go northwest for about 11 miles, you'll reach Alexandria Bay. Traveling southeast for about 6 miles leads to Philadelphia. The city of Watertown, which is the main city for Jefferson County, is about 18 miles south of Theresa.
