Texas State Highway 19 passes through the western side of Tira. This highway is important because it connects Tira to other towns. If you travel north on Highway 19 for about 25 miles (40 km), you'll reach Paris. If you go south for about 13 miles (21 km), you'll arrive in Sulphur Springs. Sulphur Springs is also the main city, or county seat, for Hopkins County.

Tira is located close to some beautiful natural spots. It's only about 1 mile (1.6 km) east of the dam for Jim Chapman Lake. This lake was once known as Cooper Lake. You can also find the South Sulphur Unit of Cooper Lake State Park about 9 miles (14 km) northeast of Tira by road. These places are great for outdoor activities!
