How Tokyo In Tulsa Started
Tokyo In Tulsa began as a Halloween block party. This party was held in October 2005 for a store called Darkstone Anime Store in Tulsa. About 500 people came to the first event. Even after the store closed in 2006, the event kept going.
In 2019, Tokyo In Tulsa moved to the Stoney Creek Hotel & Conference Center. This move happened because of construction at the Cox Business Center. It also helped with the costs of the event space. The convention used five different places that year. These included a Hilton Garden Inn and the Broken Arrow Performing Arts Center. Shuttles helped people travel between these locations. Tokyo in Tulsa 2020 was cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic.
