Tomle is a mountain peak located in the beautiful Berwyn range in north east Wales. It's not a standalone mountain but is considered a "top" of the larger Cadair Berwyn. Imagine it as a smaller peak connected to a bigger mountain!
Tomle stands out because it's the highest point on the eastern side of Cadair Berwyn's long southern ridges. This means it offers unique views and a special spot for adventurers.
Exploring Tomle's Summit
The very top of Tomle is quite interesting. It can be a bit "boggy," which means the ground is soft and wet, like a sponge. This is because water collects there, making it a unique environment.
Unlike some famous peaks, Tomle's summit doesn't have a big marker or cairn (a pile of stones). It's a more natural and untouched spot.
What's Around Tomle?
When you look north from Tomle, the ridge continues upwards. This path leads you to Cadair Berwyn North Top, which is another part of the main Cadair Berwyn mountain.
To the west of the ridge, you'll find the impressive Craig Berwyn face. This is a steep side of the mountain, often with rocky cliffs. It's a dramatic sight!
If you look south from Tomle, you can see several other peaks. These include Foel Wen, Foel Wen South Top, and Mynydd Tarw. These mountains are all part of the same stunning landscape in Wales.
Tomle's Location in Wales
Tomle is located right on the border between two Welsh counties: Denbighshire and Powys. This means it's a meeting point for these two areas, deep within the heart of the Welsh countryside.
The mountain is part of the larger Berwyn range, a group of hills and mountains known for their wild and remote beauty. It's a great place for hiking and exploring nature.
