Tommy Nilsson, born on March 11, 1960, is a famous Swedish singer and songwriter. He is well-known for his music and for representing Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1989. Tommy is also a member of the rock band Easy Action.

Music Career
In the late 1970s, Tommy Nilsson was the singer for a Swedish rock band called Horizont. The band released two albums. Later, a French music producer, Yves Accary, discovered Tommy. He signed Tommy to a French record company.
Tommy had his first big hit song in France in 1981. It was called "No Way No How." This song sold one million copies! His first album, also named No Way No How, had both disco and slow songs. In 1982, he released another album called Tommy Nilsson. This album was a rock album. It was recorded in Stockholm, Sweden, and Los Angeles, USA. However, this album did not sell as well. After traveling between France and the United States for two years, Tommy decided to return to Sweden.
Joining Easy Action
Later, Tommy joined a hard rock band called Easy Action. He recorded one album with them, named That Makes One. The band eventually broke up. After that, Tommy started his solo music career.
Solo Success
In 1989, Tommy Nilsson represented Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest. He sang a beautiful song called En dag, which means One day. He finished in fourth place in the contest.
Tommy has also had many hit songs in Sweden. These include "Allt som jag känner" (Everything that I feel) in 1987. This was a duet with another singer named Tone Norum. Other hits are "Öppna din dörr" (Open your door) from 1994, "Dina färger var blå" (Your colours were blue) from 1996, and "Amelia" from 2005.
In 1988, Tommy received an award for being the best Swedish male artist. In 1994, his album En Kvinnas Man earned a gold disc. This means it sold a lot of copies!
Later Music Work
In 2001, a collection of his songs called En samling 1981–2001 was released. It became a platinum album in Sweden, showing how popular his music was. In 2005, his album Tiden före nu reached number two on the Swedish music charts.
Tommy Nilsson also tried to represent Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest again in 2007. He sang a powerful song called "Jag tror på människan" (I believe in man). He performed it in the first semi-final of Melodifestivalen 2007. He made it to the final round. However, his song finished in tenth and last place in the final. Even so, "Jag tror på människan" reached number 9 on the Svensktoppen radio chart.
Since 2019, Tommy Nilsson has been back with the band Easy Action.
Other Work
Besides music, Tommy Nilsson has worked with Swedish television. He has also done voice acting for cartoons and performed in several plays.
In 1997, Tommy starred with Mary Wilson from the famous group the Supremes. They were in a show called Supreme Soul. This show was about a black singer who comes to Sweden to perform with a white singer. The show had music and funny moments that showed the differences between Swedish and American cultures.
Tommy played the role of Captain von Trapp in the musical The Sound of Music. The show started in Stockholm on September 29, 2007. It then went on tour and had its last performance in Örebro in May 2008.
In 2016, he took part in Så mycket bättre, a popular Swedish TV show. He also participated in another Swedish show called Stjärnornas stjärna in 2018. Both shows were broadcast on TV4.
Tommy Nilsson is also well-known for lending his voice to animated films and TV shows. He has voiced characters in Bonkers, Top Cat, Batman: The Animated Series, and The Busy World of Richard Scarry. He is also the Swedish voice of Patrick Star in SpongeBob SquarePants. He even dubbed Mel Gibson's voice for John Smith in the movie Pocahontas.
Personal Life
Tommy Nilsson was previously married to the Swedish actress Malin Berghagen. Since 2017, he has been married to actress Linda Olsson.
