Tommy Nilsson's Music Journey

Tommy Nilsson started his music career in the late 1970s. He was the singer for a Swedish rock band called Horizont. They released two albums.

In 1981, a French producer discovered Tommy. He signed with a French record company. Tommy had his first big hit in France with the song "No Way No How." This song sold one million copies! His first album, also called No Way No How, had disco songs and slow ballads.

His next album, Tommy Nilsson, came out in 1982. This album was more rock music. It was recorded in Stockholm and Los Angeles. However, it did not sell as well. After traveling between France and the United States for two years, Tommy decided to return to Sweden.

Joining Easy Action and Solo Success

Later, Tommy joined the hard rock band Easy Action. He recorded one album with them called That Makes One. The band eventually broke up, and Tommy started his solo career.

In 1989, he represented Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest. He sang the ballad En dag (which means One day). He finished in fourth place, which was a great achievement!

Tommy has also had many hit songs in Sweden. These include "Allt som jag känner" (a duet with Tone Norum) in 1987. Other popular songs are "Öppna din dörr" (Open your door) from 1994, "Dina färger var blå" (Your colors were blue) from 1996, and "Amelia" from 2005.

In 1988, Tommy won an award for being the best Swedish male artist. In 1994, his album En Kvinnas Man earned a gold disc. This means it sold a lot of copies!

Later Music and TV Appearances

In 2001, a collection of his songs called En samling 1981–2001 was released. It became a platinum album in Sweden. This means it sold even more copies than a gold disc! In 2005, his album Tiden före nu reached number 2 on the Swedish music charts.

Tommy tried to represent Sweden in the Eurovision Song Contest again in 2007. He sang a powerful song called "Jag tror på människan" (I believe in man) in Melodifestivalen 2007. He made it to the final round. Even though he placed tenth in the final, his song still became popular. It reached number 9 on the Svensktoppen radio chart.

Since 2019, Tommy Nilsson has been back with his band Easy Action.
