Pedro Tomás Reñones Crego (born August 9, 1960), known as Tomás, is a Spanish former footballer. He played as a right-back.

Tomás is best known for playing many seasons with Atlético Madrid. He also played regularly for the Spanish national team in the late 1980s. He represented Spain in one World Cup and one European Championship.

Playing for Clubs

Tomás was born in Santiago de Compostela, a city in Galicia, Spain. After playing one season with his hometown team, SD Compostela, he joined Atlético Madrid in 1981. He first played for their reserve team, Atlético Madrileño.

He made his first appearance in La Liga, Spain's top football league, during the 1984–85 season. After that, he became a regular player for Atlético Madrid. He played in 483 games for the club in total.

On May 25, 1996, when he was 35 years old, Tomás played his last game for Atlético Madrid. It was a home game against Albacete Balompié. Even though he played in only 12 matches that season, he helped his team, known as the Colchoneros, win an amazing double. This means they won both the league title and the Spanish Cup in the same year. Tomás stopped playing football completely in 1998 after two short periods with smaller teams.

Playing for Spain

Tomás played 19 games, called caps, for the Spanish national team. He was chosen to play in the 1986 FIFA World Cup and UEFA Euro 1988. In these big tournaments, he played a total of eight matches.

His first game for Spain was on November 20, 1985. It was a friendly match against Austria in Zaragoza, which ended in a 0–0 tie.

After Football

After he stopped playing football, Reñones started a career in politics. He was elected to the city council of Marbella. He was part of the Liberal Independent Group, a political party started by Jesús Gil, who was also the president of Atlético Madrid for a long time.
