Tonawanda Creek is a small stream located in Central Ontario, Canada. It is part of the huge Great Lakes Basin, which means its water eventually flows into the Great Lakes. Tonawanda Creek is a smaller stream that flows into the Big East River.
Where Tonawanda Creek Flows
This creek starts from a small, unnamed lake that sometimes dries up. This lake is near the town of Kearney in Parry Sound District. From there, the creek flows first southwest, then turns southeast.
Along its journey, Tonawanda Creek flows past the Banning Dam. It also joins with a smaller stream called Little Tonawanda Creek, which flows into it from the right side. Finally, Tonawanda Creek reaches its end, flowing into the Big East River. This happens in the area known as Lake of Bays in the Muskoka District Municipality.
The Big East River then continues its journey. Its waters flow into the North Branch Muskoka River, then into the Moon River, and finally into the Musquash River. All these rivers eventually lead to Lake Huron, one of the Great Lakes.
