Anthony Toby Hiller (born July 30, 1927 – died August 26, 2018) was a talented English songwriter and music producer. He was famous for creating many hit songs, especially for the band Brotherhood of Man. Some of his most well-known songs include "United We Stand" (from 1970) and "Save Your Kisses for Me" (from 1976).

Tony Hiller's Life and Music

Tony Hiller was born in Bethnal Green, East London, England. He was the oldest of eight children. When he was young, during 1939, he moved from London to Ely, Cambridgeshire, with his school.

Tony started his music career with his brother Irving. They formed a song and dance duo called The Hiller Brothers. They performed with many famous artists of their time.

Tony Hiller became best known for writing and producing many hit songs for the group Brotherhood of Man. These hits included "United We Stand" (1970), "Save Your Kisses for Me" (1976), "Angelo" (1977), and "Figaro" (1978).

The song "United We Stand" became a worldwide favorite. More than 100 different artists have recorded it! Years later, it became popular again as a song of hope and strength. It was used often during news broadcasts after the events of 9/11.

Tony also wrote "Caroline," a song recorded by The Fortunes in 1964. This song became the theme tune for the pirate radio station Radio Caroline, which broadcast from the North Sea. It is still used as their theme song today.

Over 500 other artists have recorded songs written by Tony Hiller. Some of these famous musicians include Elton John, Olivia Newton-John, Andy Williams, and Sonny and Cher. Tony won three Ivor Novello Awards, which are special awards for British songwriters. He also received a Gold Badge Award for his important work in the British music industry.
