Toomulla is about 47 kilometers (29 miles) north-east of Townsville. It is a bit hidden, located about 2 kilometers (1.2 miles) north of the main Bruce Highway. This makes Toomulla feel more peaceful than nearby beach towns like Balgal Beach and Toolakea.
Toomulla's History
The town of Toomulla was officially named in 1956. The name Toomulla comes from an Aboriginal word. It means throwing stick and is from the Belyando River area.
