Tori Gurley (born Norristorius Gurley on November 22, 1987) is an American former professional football player. He played as a wide receiver, which is a player who catches passes.
Tori played college football at the University of South Carolina. He helped his team, the Gamecocks, win their first SEC East title in 2010. They also made it to their first SEC championship game that year.
Tori is from Rock Hill, South Carolina. He went to Rock Hill High School. In his senior year, he helped his school's football and basketball teams win state championships. During his time at South Carolina, up to 2010, Tori had 70 catches for 824 receiving yards and 6 touchdowns. In his final season with the Gamecocks in 2010, he set a school record by not dropping any passes.

Tori Gurley's Early Life and High School Sports
Tori Gurley was a talented athlete in high school. He played two sports, football and basketball. In his senior year, he helped Rock Hill High School win state championships in both sports in 2006.
He first planned to go to the University of North Carolina to play both football and basketball. Later, when he went to the University of South Carolina, he changed his last name. He changed it from Childers to Gurley to honor his father, who passed away in 2007.
Prep School Experience
Before college, Gurley spent one year at New Hampton Prep School in New Hampshire. There, he continued to play both football and basketball. In that year, he caught 40 passes for 700 yards and scored 12 touchdowns in football. In basketball, he averaged 10 points and 8 rebounds per game.

Freshman Year Highlights (2009)
As a redshirt freshman in 2009, Tori played his first college game against NC State. He caught four passes for 34 yards. Gurley was known as a strong wide receiver who could hold onto the ball. In his first two college starts, three of his touchdown catches were called back because of penalties.
He scored his first official college touchdown against Georgia. It was a six-yard pass from Stephen Garcia. In a game against FAU, Gurley caught four passes for 100 yards, including a long 44-yard catch. He also had good games against Ole Miss, Vanderbilt, Tennessee, and Clemson. He played in all 13 games and started five of them. He was fourth on the team with 31 catches, 440 receiving yards, and two touchdowns.
Sophomore Year Success (2010)
In 2010, Gurley had another strong season. He was the second-leading receiver for the Gamecocks, right behind Alshon Jeffery. He helped his team achieve a 9–3 record. They also won the SEC East Division Championship, which was a big accomplishment. One of his best games was against Vanderbilt. In that game, he tied a school record by catching 14 passes for 112 yards.

After college, Tori Gurley played for several professional football teams in both the NFL and CFL.
Playing for the Green Bay Packers
The Green Bay Packers signed Gurley as an undrafted free agent on July 25, 2011. This means he wasn't chosen in the NFL draft but was signed afterward. He later joined their practice squad, which is a group of players who practice with the team but are not on the main roster.
Towards the end of the 2011 season, the Minnesota Vikings offered Gurley a spot on their main 53-player roster. However, he chose to stay with the Green Bay practice squad. The Packers released him on August 31, 2012.
Time with Other NFL Teams
After leaving the Packers, Gurley spent time with several other NFL teams' practice squads in 2012:
- He joined the Minnesota Vikings practice squad on September 1, 2012, but was released later that month.
- He then signed with the Oakland Raiders practice squad on September 25, 2012.
- Next, he moved to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers practice squad on October 17, 2012.
- Finally, he was signed by the San Diego Chargers practice squad but was released in November 2012.
Playing for the Cleveland Browns
On May 23, 2013, the Cleveland Browns signed Gurley. He was released on August 31, 2013, but rejoined their practice squad two days later. He was moved to the main roster on September 7, 2013. He played in two regular season games, catching 1 pass for 15 yards. He was released again on September 17, 2013, and re-signed to the practice squad the next day.
On October 18, 2013, Gurley was again moved to the main roster. He played against his former team, the Green Bay Packers, on October 20. He was released again on October 22 and then re-signed to the practice squad on October 29. The Browns released him for the last time on May 19, 2014.
Short Stint with the Buffalo Bills
Gurley signed with the Buffalo Bills in 2014. However, the team released him on August 25, 2014, before the season started.
Playing in the Canadian Football League (CFL)
Tori Gurley then moved to the Canadian Football League (CFL).
Toronto Argonauts (2015–2016)
On June 3, 2015, Gurley signed with the Toronto Argonauts of the CFL. In the 2015 CFL season, he had 58 catches for 793 yards. He also led the league with 10 touchdown receptions.
In his second CFL season, Gurley played in 10 of the Argonauts' first 14 games. He missed some games due to injuries and others because of team discipline. After a loss in Week 15, the Argonauts released Gurley and three other wide receivers. Reports suggested these players were not fully committed to the team. In his 10 games for the Argonauts that year, Gurley caught 36 passes for 509 yards and 5 touchdowns.
Winnipeg Blue Bombers (2016)
Three days after leaving Toronto, the Winnipeg Blue Bombers signed Gurley. He played in two games for the Bombers at the end of the 2016 season. He caught 4 passes for 62 yards.
Ottawa Redblacks (2017)
As a free agent, Gurley signed with the Ottawa Redblacks of the CFL on May 4, 2017. However, he was released by the team on June 18, 2017, after their two preseason games.
