Torrey Pines State Beach is a beautiful beach found in San Diego, California. It's located in the community of Torrey Pines, south of Del Mar and north of La Jolla. The tall cliffs next to the beach are shaped by natural forces like coastal erosion, which means the ocean slowly wears away the land. This creates a stunning view!
This beach is a favorite spot for surfers. It's a classic example of a Southern California beach. Sometimes, you might even see bioluminescence here. This is when tiny living things in the ocean glow, making the water look sparkly at night.
The beach sits at the bottom of cliffs that are about 300 feet tall. These cliffs are made of white and golden sandstone. Sometimes, you can see a greenish layer near the bottom. At the north end of the beach, the cliffs stop. Here, the Los Peñasquitos Lagoon, which is a salty marsh, flows into the ocean. A road crosses the entrance to the beach, and there's some free parking available.
