Tory's Falls, also known as Tory Falls, is a beautiful waterfall found in North Central North Carolina. It's located inside Hanging Rock State Park in Stokes County.
Discovering Tory's Falls History
This waterfall gets its name from a nearby spot called "Tory's Den." This was a cave that people believed was used by "Tories" during the American Revolution. Tories were people who stayed loyal to the British king during the war, even though many colonists wanted independence.
Planning Your Visit to Tory's Falls
Tory's Falls is open for everyone to enjoy! You can start your adventure from a parking area located on Charlie Young Road. From there, it's a walk of about 300 yards (or 275 meters) to reach the falls.
The trail to the waterfall is considered to be of moderate difficulty. It can be a bit tricky to see the whole waterfall from just one spot. Also, sometimes the water source for the falls can dry up, leaving only a small trickle.
