Totness is a small area in South Australia. It's mostly made up of business and industrial zones. Many people think it's part of nearby Mount Barker or Littlehampton. But Totness is actually its own special place. It was separated from Mount Barker when a big highway, the South Eastern Freeway, was built in 1977. You won't find a sign saying "Welcome to Totness" when you drive in!
Totness is very close to two other towns. It's about 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) from the Mount Barker Post Office. It's also just 1 kilometre (0.62 mi) from the Littlehampton Post Office. These towns have grown so much that they almost connect with Totness.
About Totness
Totness is home to the Totness Recreation Park. This park is a great place to explore nature. You can now get to the park using a new road called Innovation Drive. This road is part of the Totness Precinct development.
The oldest building still standing in the Mount Barker area is a windmill in Totness. It's a cool piece of history!
History of Totness
Totness was first divided into smaller pieces of land in the 1880s. This was done without much thought for the hills and valleys of the area.
A part of the movie Ned Kelly was filmed on Totness Road. This movie starred the famous singer Mick Jagger.
