Towner is a small city in McHenry County, North Dakota. It is the main city for the county, also known as the county seat. In 2020, about 479 people lived there. Towner is part of the larger Minot area and was started in 1886.

History of Towner

Towner began in 1886 when the Great Northern Railway built tracks through the area. The city was named after O. M. Towner, a local rancher.

Towner is located in North Dakota. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city covers about 0.81 square miles (2.1 square kilometers) of land. There is no water area within the city limits.
