How Toyo Suisan Started
Toyo Suisan was started in 1953 by a person named Kazuo Mori. At first, the company focused on buying, selling, and exporting products from the ocean.
In 1955, they began to store food in cold places. Then, in 1956, they started making and selling processed seafood, like fish sausages.
Over time, Toyo Suisan and its related companies grew a lot. They began to make other types of food, including instant noodles, fresh noodles, and frozen meals.
Besides selling food directly to people, the company also makes many products for restaurants and other food businesses.

Toyo Suisan has three companies that they fully own in the United States. These are Maruchan, Inc. in Irvine, California, Maruchan Virginia, Inc. in Richmond, Virginia, and Maruchan Texas, Inc. in Von Ormy, Texas.
They also work together with another company called Ajinomoto Foods North America, Inc. They have a joint company in Portland, Oregon, called Ajinomoto Toyo Frozen Noodles.

Fresh Noodles
Toyo Suisan is a leader in the fresh noodle market in Japan. Their fresh noodles are very popular.
One of their top-selling fresh noodle products is Sanshoku (“three pack”) Yakisoba, which they first introduced in 1975. They also make Sanshoku Udon noodles, which can stay fresh for 15 days, and Mukashi Nagara No Chuka Soba noodles, among other products.
