Tranemo Municipality (Tranemo kommun) is a special area in western Sweden. It is part of Västra Götaland County. A municipality is like a local government area. It helps manage things for the people who live there. The main town in Tranemo Municipality is called Tranemo.
Over time, the area of Tranemo Municipality has changed. In 1863, there were twelve smaller local areas. These areas later joined together. This happened in steps during 1952, 1967, and 1974. This is how the Tranemo Municipality we know today was formed.
The name "Tranemo" comes from the Swedish word Trana. This word means "crane," which is a type of bird.
The municipality has its own special symbol called a coat of arms. It was created in 1975. This symbol shows a crane and a tool used for glass blowing. Glass blowing is a very old craft in this area. The first glass blower started working here in 1741.
