Treasure Mountain! is a fun and educational computer game that came out in 1990. It was made by The Learning Company for computers like Windows and Macintosh PCs. This game helps kids aged five to nine learn important skills like reading, basic math, and how to think logically. It's also the third game in the popular Super Solvers game series.

The Story of Treasure Mountain!

Where Does the Game Take Place?

Treasure Mountain! happens in a magical place called Treasureland. This special world is also where other "Treasure" games in the Super Seekers series are set. The main adventure in this game takes place on a big mountain known as "Treasure Mountain." Another game, Treasure MathStorm!, also uses this same mountain for its setting.

What's the Game About?

At the start of the game, a tricky character called the Master of Mischief causes trouble. He is a common bad guy in The Learning Company's Super Seekers games. This time, he has stolen the kingdom's crown and hidden all the valuable treasures from the castle.

You play as the Super Seeker, a hero whose job is to find all the missing treasures. Your goal is to bring them back to the castle and make sure the Master of Mischief is no longer in charge.

How to Play Treasure Mountain!

The main goal in Treasure Mountain! is to find all the hidden treasures. Once you find them, you need to return them to a special chest inside the castle at the very top of the mountain.

Climbing the Mountain Levels

The mountain has three different levels. You can't move up to a higher level until you find a special key. This key unlocks the path to the next part of the mountain. To find the key, you need to get clues. You get these clues by answering riddles from friendly elves.

Getting Clues from Elves

As you play, you'll see elves carrying scrolls. You can use a net to catch an elf. If you answer their riddle correctly, they will give you a clue. This clue could be a number, a shape, or a description. It tells you where the key to the next level is hidden. The elf will also give you some magical coins.

Finding Hidden Items

In the background of the game, you'll see different groups of objects. These objects have features that can match the clues you get. To search behind these objects, you drop one of your magic coins.

  • If the objects match all three of your clues, the key to the next level will appear!
  • If the objects match only two out of three of your clues, you will find one of the stolen treasures instead.

Reaching the Castle

After you find the key on each of the three mountain levels, you can finally enter the castle. Inside the castle, you must climb through a maze of ladders. Be careful to avoid the Master of Mischief as you go!

When you reach the very top, you put all the treasures you found into the castle's treasure chest. As a reward for completing the game, you get one of the treasures you discovered. This prize is then displayed in your clubhouse, showing how many times you've reached the top of the mountain. From your clubhouse, you can start the adventure again from the bottom of the mountain.

Getting Better at the Game

As you deposit more treasures into the castle's chest, your "star rank" will go up. When you reach higher ranks, the game becomes more challenging. You will need to find more treasures, the riddles will be harder to solve, and some elves might even try to steal your magical coins using "elf dust."
