Trevor Brazile facts for kids

Kids Encyclopedia Facts

Trevor Brazile (born November 16, 1976) is a famous American rodeo cowboy. He used to compete full-time in the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) and is now semi-retired. He works with another cowboy named Miles Baker. Trevor Brazile was honored by being inducted into the ProRodeo Hall of Fame in 2022.

He holds an amazing record for winning the most PRCA world championship titles, with a total of 26! He earned his 26th title in 2020. Trevor also holds the record for the most all-around cowboy world champion titles, with 14 wins. This broke the previous record of 7 titles held by another rodeo legend, Ty Murray.

In 2010, Trevor Brazile won his 8th all-around title, which officially surpassed Ty Murray's record. While Murray's titles were mostly from roughstock events (like bull riding), Brazile's wins came from timed events (like roping).

Trevor Brazile won the all-around world championship many times: in 2002, 2003, 2004, and every year from 2006 through 2015, plus again in 2018. He also won the tie-down roping world championship in 2007, 2009, and 2010. He became the team roping world champion in 2010. For steer roping, he won world championships in 2006, 2007, 2011, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2019, and 2020. He also won four National Finals Steer Roping (NFSR) Average titles and two National Finals Rodeo (NFR) Average titles.

Trevor Brazile broke another big record! The late Jim Shoulders set a record of 16 world championships back in 1959. Steer roper Guy Allen matched that record in 2001. Then, in 2003, Allen broke Shoulders' record by winning his 17th title, and his 18th in 2004. But in 2013, Trevor Brazile won another all-around title, bringing his total to 19 world titles. This made him the new record holder, passing Guy Allen's 18 titles. As of 2020, Trevor Brazile has an incredible 26 world titles!

In 2008, Trevor Brazile made history again. He was the first PRCA cowboy to earn over $3 million in his career.

Trevor Brazile announced that he would retire from full-time rodeo at the end of the 2018 National Finals Rodeo.

He was born in Amarillo, Texas. Trevor has said that he wants people to remember him as a great cowboy.

Trevor Brazile married Shada Cooper in 2001. Shada is the daughter of ProRodeo Hall of Fame cowboy, Roy Cooper, who helped Trevor when he was starting his rodeo career. Trevor and Shada live in Decatur, Texas, with their three children.
