Exploring Tri-Mountain State Park

This park is unique because it has no roads leading into it. To visit, you need to hike in. The only way to reach the park is by following the Mattabesett Trail. This trail is a fun way to explore the natural beauty of the area.

How the Park Started

Tri-Mountain State Park officially began in 1925. Its creation was thanks to a generous person named John B. Kendrick. He lived in Wallingford and cared a lot about protecting nature. In 1906, he bought a six-acre piece of land on the top of Trimountain's southern peak. He wanted to make sure this beautiful spot was kept safe. Later, he donated this land, which helped create the park we know today.
