Part of Trimble in Dyer County is near Dyersburg. The part in Obion County is close to Union City.

History of Trimble

Trimble was first settled in 1873. It was built on land owned by a local person named Jesse Pierce. By the end of that year, a saloon opened in the new settlement.

How Trimble Got Its Name

In 1874, a railroad line was extended to the area. This line connected to Troy Station. Because of the new railroad, the town was named Trimble Station. The railroad was later extended to Dyersburg in 1882.

Education and Local Businesses

A school called Trimble Academy was started in the town in 1884. This shows that education was important to the early settlers.

More recently, in 2014, a business called Full Throttle Distillery opened in Trimble. It was built where the old Trimble Cotton Gin used to be.

Geography

Trimble is a small town in terms of size. The United States Census Bureau says the town covers about 0.6 square miles (1.7 square kilometers). All of this area is land.
