Troian Avery Bellisario (born October 28, 1985) is an American actress and filmmaker. She is known for her role as Spencer Hastings in the TV show Pretty Little Liars. She has also starred in and created several films.
Troian is the daughter of famous producer Donald P. Bellisario and actress Deborah Pratt. She first acted when she was just three years old. After finishing college, she became very well-known for Pretty Little Liars. This show aired from 2010 to 2017.
She has also been praised for her work in movies like C.O.G. (2013), Feed (2017), Clara (2018), and Where'd You Go, Bernadette (2019). She even wrote and produced Feed.
On television, Troian appeared in the film Sister Cities (2016). She also starred in the web series Lauren (2012–2013). Since 2016, she has been married to actor Patrick J. Adams. They have two daughters. Troian and Patrick have worked together on Pretty Little Liars, Suits, and Clara.

Growing Up in Los Angeles
Troian Avery Bellisario grew up in Los Angeles, California. Her parents are both involved in television. Her father, Donald P. Bellisario, created popular TV shows like Magnum, P.I., Quantum Leap, and NCIS. Her mother is producer and actress Deborah Pratt.
Troian has a younger brother, three half-sisters, two half-brothers, and two stepbrothers. Her stepbrothers include actor Sean Murray. Her family background is diverse, with Italian, Serbian, and African American roots.
She attended Campbell Hall School from kindergarten through high school. She was a top student there. After high school, she went to Vassar College for a short time. She later graduated from the University of Southern California in 2009 with a degree in Fine Arts.
Starting Her Acting Journey
Early Roles and Beginnings
Troian Bellisario started acting very young. Her first role was in the 1988 film Last Rites when she was three. Her father directed and produced this movie. In 1990, she appeared in an episode of her father's TV series Quantum Leap.
In 1998, she acted alongside Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen in the film Billboard Dad. From 2006 onwards, Troian also appeared in several independent short films. These included Unspoken, Archer House, and Intersect.
Becoming a Star in the 2010s
In November 2009, Troian was chosen for the role of Spencer Hastings in the TV series Pretty Little Liars. This show was based on a popular book series. It made her famous around the world.
In 2011, Troian announced she was writing her own film. She successfully raised money for it through Kickstarter. The film was finished by August 2012.
In 2014, she appeared in a music video for the song "Another Story" by The Head and the Heart. She also starred in the short film Immediately Afterlife. In 2015, Troian and her fiancé, Patrick J. Adams, filmed the short movie We Are Here in Haida Gwaii. Troian wrote and starred in this film.
In 2017, Troian starred in her own feature film, Feed. She also wrote and produced this movie. The story for Feed was inspired by her own personal journey.
On April 7, 2016, it was announced that Troian would direct an episode of Pretty Little Liars. This made her one of the first cast members to direct an episode of the show. In 2020, she appeared in an episode of Stumptown.
She also co-starred with Jacki Weaver in the TV film Sister Cities (2016). She worked with Bradley Whitford in the drama Lauren (2012–2013). Her film roles include C.O.G. (2013), Feed (2017), Clara (2018), and Where'd You Go, Bernadette (2019).
Recent Work in the 2020s
In March 2020, Troian Bellisario played the main character, Claire, in a TV pilot called Ways & Means. This show was about politics and also starred Patrick Dempsey. However, the show was not picked up to become a full series.
In 2022, she appeared in the comedy film Doula. In this movie, Troian's character hires her midwife's son to take over when the midwife passes away. The film was produced by Chris Pine.
Personal Life and Family
Troian Bellisario started dating actor Patrick J. Adams in 2009. They met while working on a play called Equivocation. They briefly separated but got back together in 2010. Since then, they have worked on several projects together. These include the short film The Come Up, the TV show Suits, and the short film We Are Here.
Troian and Patrick got married on December 10, 2016, in Santa Barbara, California. They have two daughters named Aurora and Elliot. In a podcast, Troian and Patrick shared a unique story about their second daughter's birth. She was born in the backseat of their car in the hospital parking lot because labor happened very quickly! Hospital staff arrived quickly to help.
In 2014, Troian gave a speech at her old university, the USC School of Dramatic Arts.
