Trout Lake is a beautiful lake located in Ontario, Canada. It sits between the towns of East Ferris and North Bay. This lake is about 6 kilometers (4 miles) east of the much bigger Lake Nipissing.
Trout Lake is important because it's where the Mattawa River begins. This river was once a key part of a famous historic route used by voyageurs. These were brave fur traders who traveled by canoe across North America a long time ago. The lake is about 11 kilometers (7 miles) long and 4 kilometers (2.5 miles) wide. Its water flows east into the Mattawa River, which then joins the Ottawa River and eventually reaches the St. Lawrence River.
