Troy Leonard Baxter Jr., born on March 5, 1996, is an American professional basketball player. He plays as a forward, which is a key position in basketball. Troy has played for many teams around the world. Before becoming a pro, he played college basketball for teams like the UNLV Runnin' Rebels, Florida Gulf Coast Eagles, and Morgan State Bears. His last team was Titanes del Sur in the Liga Nacional de Baloncesto (LNB).

High School Basketball Journey
Troy Baxter Jr. went to Oldsmar Christian School in Oldsmar, Florida. He became a well-known player while playing for Team Breakdown in the Under Armour Association in 2015. On May 1, 2015, Troy decided to play college basketball for the South Florida Bulls.
Senior Year Highlights
During his senior year in the 2015–16 season, Troy was amazing! He scored about 17 points, grabbed 7 rebounds, and blocked 1.5 shots per game. Experts rated him as a four-star recruit, and he was even ranked 90th among all players by ESPN. Troy also won the 2016 American Family Insurance High School Slam Dunk Contest, showing off his incredible jumping skills. Later, he decided to play for the UNLV Runnin' Rebels instead of South Florida.
College Basketball Career
Troy Baxter Jr. played for three different colleges during his basketball career. Each stop helped him grow as a player.
Playing for UNLV (2016–2017)
As a freshman at UNLV, Troy averaged 4.3 points and 2.3 rebounds per game. He hoped for more playing time, but the team only won four games in their conference. Because of this, Troy decided to leave UNLV on March 30, 2017, to find a new team.
Time at Florida Gulf Coast (2017–2019)
On June 20, 2017, Troy chose to play for the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles. He had to sit out the 2017–18 season because of NCAA transfer rules. Even though he couldn't play in games, Troy used practice time to get better and learn more about basketball.
During the 2018–19 season, Troy averaged 7.5 points, 2.9 rebounds, 1.1 assists, and 1.1 blocks per game. On April 5, 2019, he said he might enter the 2019 NBA draft. However, he decided to return to college after thinking about his chances in the draft. He then announced he would transfer to another school.
Success at Morgan State (2019–2021)
Troy wanted to join a team with coaches who had helped players reach the National Basketball Association (NBA). He picked the Morgan State Bears because their head coach, Kevin Broadus, had coached 12 future NBA players.
In the 2019–20 season, Troy averaged 10.2 points and 5.1 rebounds per game. His 1.9 blocks per game were the second highest in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC).
Troy had an amazing 2020–21 season, averaging 15.5 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 1.6 blocks per game. He was chosen for the All-MEAC First Team and the All-Defensive Team. He also won the 2021 Great Clips Slam Dunk Championship, becoming the first player to win slam dunk titles in both high school and college! On August 9, 2021, Troy was named the MEAC Male Student-Athlete of the Year for his great work in school and other activities.
Professional Basketball Journey
After college, Troy Baxter Jr. started his professional basketball career. He has played for many teams in different leagues around the world.
NBA G League Teams (2021–2024)
After the 2021 NBA draft, Troy joined the Chicago Bulls for the 2021 NBA Summer League. He signed a contract with the Bulls but was waived shortly after. He then joined the Windy City Bulls in the NBA G League. Over the next few years, Troy played for several G League teams, including the Wisconsin Herd, Grand Rapids Gold, Fort Wayne Mad Ants, Oklahoma City Blue, and Westchester Knicks. These teams are often a step for players hoping to reach the NBA.
Playing Around the World (2022–2025)
Troy has also played basketball in many other countries:
- In May and June 2022, he played for Indios de San Francisco in the Dominican Republic.
- In October 2022, he played a few games for Deportivo San José in South America.
- In November and December 2022, he played in Lebanon for Antranik.
- In January 2023, he moved to Mongolia to play for Khatsaga.
- On April 4, 2023, Troy signed with the Canterbury Rams in New Zealand. He helped the Rams win the 2023 NZNBL championship!
- In November 2023, he played a few games for Trouville in Uruguay.
- In 2024, he returned to New Zealand to play for the Manawatu Jets and also played for the Calgary Surge in Canada.
- In 2025, Troy played for teams like Amman United in Jordan, Nadim Souaid Academy in Lebanon, Al Ahly in Egypt, and Titanes del Sur in the Dominican Republic.
