Tula (pronounced Too-la) is a small town, also called a comune (municipality), located on the beautiful island of Sardinia in Italy. It is part of the Province of Sassari.
Tula is about 170 kilometers (106 miles) north of Cagliari, which is the capital city of Sardinia. It's also about 35 kilometers (22 miles) east of Sassari, another important city on the island. In December 2004, about 1,664 people lived in Tula. The town covers an area of 65.6 square kilometers (25.3 square miles).
Tula shares its borders with a few other towns. These include Erula, Oschiri, Ozieri, and Tempio Pausania.
How Tula's Population Has Changed
The number of people living in Tula has changed over many years. Looking at records from 1861, there were 1,078 people. The population slowly grew, reaching its highest point in 1951 with 2,110 residents.
After 1951, the population started to decrease. By 1971, it was 1,618 people. In 2001, about 1,665 people lived in Tula, and by 2011, the number was 1,598. This shows how towns can grow and shrink over time.
