Tulsi Giri (Maithili: तुलसी गिरि) was an important political leader in Nepal. He was born on September 26, 1926, in the Siraha District of Nepal. He passed away on December 18, 2018, at the age of 92.
Tulsi Giri served as the Prime Minister of Nepal several times. He was Prime Minister from 1975 to 1977. He also held a similar top leadership role, called chairman of the Council of Ministers, in 1963, and again from 1964 to 1965.

Early Life and Education
Tulsi Giri studied at the Suri Vidyasagar College. This college was connected to the University of Calcutta at the time. Before he became a politician, he actually earned a medical degree. This shows he had a strong background in science and learning.
Political Career in Nepal
Tulsi Giri started his political journey as a Minister. He was part of the Nepali Congress government from 1959 to 1960. However, King Mahendra later ended this government.
After a period where King Mahendra ruled directly, Tulsi Giri became the first Prime Minister. This happened after the King's direct rule ended. He played a key role in Nepal's government during a changing time.
Roles as Prime Minister
Tulsi Giri served as Prime Minister or in a similar top role multiple times. His first time as chairman of the Council of Ministers was in 1963. He held this position again from 1964 to 1965. Later, he returned as Prime Minister from 1975 to 1977. These periods were important for Nepal's political history.
Later Life and Legacy
In 1986, Tulsi Giri stepped down from his role as chairman of the Rastriya Panchayat. After this, he moved to Sri Lanka and lived there for two years. He then settled in Bangalore, India, where he stayed until 2005.
He later returned to Nepal. Tulsi Giri passed away at his home in Budhanilkantha, Kathmandu. He was 92 years old and died from liver cancer. His long career in politics made him a notable figure in Nepal's history.
